Thank you to the lovely Laura at https://boyequation.com had picked little old me to take part in the Liebster award. The what what? The LIEBSTER award? Yes, it is a word that raises more questions than answers I know, but see below, that right there describes what the jeepers this is all about.

‘Liebster’ is Germanic in origin and can mean dearest, sweetest, kindest, nicest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute and endearing. This award started back in 2011 and exists only on the internet, given by bloggers to fellow bloggers to encourage connection and support within the blogging community, and to aid in the discovery of new and upcoming bloggers.

So, here I go with my questions….
What is your favourite book and why?

Oh but I have so many! I think it is between Kite Runner, it is such a beautiful story with friendship at its heart but covering so many other things as well. It transported me to a completely different life.  I also adored Room. I haven’t seen the film. I am not sure I want to. Films never match my imagination, apart from Kite Runner. Yes that people was the only adaptation I have seen that came anywhere close to the images in my imagination.

What do you do that you know you shouldn’t?

I work Monday, Tuesday and Friday and as a result I have got into the habit of treating my Tuesday night as a Friday night. So yes, hands up, I have two Friday nights in one week. That also results in having two slow mornings in a week

Bath or shower?

Shower. I have two a day and if I don’t manage that I feel all out of sorts and grimy.

Who is your most embarassing celebrity crush?

I don’t have one, any crush I have seems perfectly typical to me.

What does your morning routine look like?

That depends… are we talking a Wednesday? If so, that is more relaxed/headachy/slow. If it is a work day then not so much. We get showered, dressed, make our bed and nag the kids to do theirs, we feed the guniea pigs whilst I make breakfast and if my husband is home, he is packed lunch man, ( I should get him a cape)! We eat breakfast last, well those of us that have not been inpatient and devoured cereal whilst all the above was going on. I like to listen to Radio 2 each morning. I feel disappointed when Chris Evans is away! Then its kisses all around and then off I trot.

When did you last wear a hat and why?

I don’t wear them very often. I think it must have been a wooly hat on a walk to the pub. Yes, that sounds about right.

If you could meet any fictional character in real life, who would it be?

I think it would be Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. I would like to try on those slippers and see if they are as comfortable as slippers because something tells me they are not. Pretty? Maybe, but comfortable Dorothy? No. Hardly Slippers in my eyes but then it would be wrong of me to knock them before I tried them.

Chocolate or crisps?

That is hard, I like both equally. They should make chocolate crisps!

What is your favourite family holiday destination?

Cornwall. We travelled down there in our campervan and it is like going back in time.It is so beautiful there. We also saw Doc Martin being filmed. Oooh, hang on a cotton picking moment! Now THERE is my embarrassing crush! Mr smiley Martin Clunes.

What is your favourite TV boxset?

I have liked a lot of them. Homeland especially but you really can get too much of a good thing. I mean, seriously 6 series take a lot of time. It has to be short and sweet to hold my concentration. We are watching Sherlock at the moment and I adored Happy Vally. It is filmed where I am from so that perks me up if I feel I am drifting.

Sum up your life in no more than ten words.

Fabulously fun, hectic, lively, full of compromise, caring, safe, hygge and country loving.

So now I need to give you 11 random facts about myself.

1 I can do headstands.

My children cajole me on to do them, especially when we have guests which I had to have serious words with them about. ‘Oh yeah, come to mine for tea and cake and a natter and oh, hang fire…do you want to watch me do a headstand? No seriously… here, watch.’ It just doesn’t work. A time and a place kids, a time and a place!

2 When I am tiddlesome I like to see if I can do the baby lift.

I rope anyone in that is willing (and looks strong).  It is harder than I first thought though. I am get determined to get there. It is work in progress.

3 Both times I was pregnant I ate 10 satsumas and drank around three pints of milk daily.

My room at work smelled so citrusy that people wondered if I had some kind of hidden air freshener on steroids. As for the milk, I would pour a pint and just down it in one. I couldn’t get enough of it.

4 I like to go on midnight walks.

Not every night, but when we have had a party I am often rounding up the troops to go on a countryside jaunt. Laden with my hip flask, wellies and a blanket to sit on and marvel at the stars. It great fun.

5 I ran for my county.

I had been selected to run the 200 meters sprint. I turned up with my mum to cheer me on. All the other girls had starting blocks, spikes and coaches there to run through tactics with them. I just started like a four year old on sports day with my mum shouting from the edge of the track to get a move on.

I came sixth.

Out of six.

6 I avoid watching the news if I can.

I hear it on the radio, I am not a complete news diverter. I am just aware that apart from the fluffy bit at the end (about Pandas usually), the rest of it makes me feel so sad about the world we live in. I hate that feeling, especially when you are helpless to change things.

7 I was once best friends with Ed Sheeran.

We were fantastic friends. It was in a dream but it was vivid enough for it to be entirely plausible to think that he had the same dream on the same night. I was in a mood all day long and felt the need to repeatedly tell anyone that would listen.

8 I am rubbish at gardening.

I want to be good at it and each year I try. I forget what I have planted where and I am sure I pull up some of my earlier work thinking it is a weed masquerading as a flower. I loathe weeding. I do like doing hanging baskets but even they end up looking haggard. Any tips appreciated!

9 Christmas is my favorite and me best.

I adore the traditions and the time I get to spend quality time with my family. Putting up the tree is our kickstarter to it and I am like a small child on that day. My husband is very patient!  I also like that every night is like Friday night and there are parties a plenty and scruffy food galore.

10 I love playing board games.

I grew up with them and I have made it my new years resolution that after a Sunday roast we all sit down together and play a board game. So far, so good. Again, any suggestions are welcome. I am always on the lookout  for fab family games that everyone enjoys.

11 I don’t like odd numbers.

Even the idea of giving you 11 facts about myself makes me question the thinking behind this idea. It makes no sense to me and this proves that I do not like odd numbers. They unsettle me. Surely there should only be ten. I am therefore mildly OCD.

So there you go, I hope you enjoyed that little insight. Now here are my nominees for the award, drum role please….
